Swedish Lotto Help&FAQ

Most Frequently Asked Questions

You are here:Home>Swedish Lotto Help&FAQ

The Lotto is by far the most popular game of chance in Sweden. Although it can seem quite complicated compared to our lotteries in the UK, the information below should help to answer the most frequently asked questions of people who are new to the game.

How much does it cost?

It costs £0.50 for the Swedish Lotto 1 at or £1 to go for both Lotto 1 and Lotto 2.

What are Lotto 1 and Lotto 2?

All Swedish Lotto Bets, by default, are for two separate draws, Lotto 1 and Lotto 2, giving you two different chances to win.

Why does my bet cost £2.00 not £0.50?

The default Swedish Lotto bet is for entry to both Lotto 1 and Lotto 2 (£1) and with the Extra Game (£1) (see below) added on. If you only want to enter Swedish Lotto 1 simply set ‘Select drawings’ to ‘Only LOTTO 1’ and set the Extra Game to ‘None’.

Do I pay any taxes or special fees on my winnings?

No, at you won’t pay any extra taxes or special fees on any of your Swedish Lotto prizes.

What are the odds of winning Swedish Lotto?

There are 6 prize tiers for the Swedish Lotto:

  • Matched NumbersOdds of Winning
  • 71:6,724,520
  • 6+11:240,161
  • 61:40,027
  • 51:847
  • 41:59
  • 31:55

* Unlike the UK lottery, prizes for the Swedish lottery are based on the total lotto pool, meaning the prizes are approximates, they may go up or down each week.

What is the ‘Extra Game’?

The ‘Extra Game’ gives you another way to bet on the Swedish Lotto and win even more money. For £1 extra, 7 randomly selected numbers from 0-9 will be entered into a 2nd draw of numbers also from 0-9.To win you need to match your numbers to those drawn in. You don’t need to win Swedish Lotto to win the Extra Game however, you cannot enter the Extra Game without betting on the Swedish Lotto and if you do win both then you will be the winner of the Drömvinsten, the ‘Dream Win’, which in the past has reached almost £20 million. Seem complicated? It’s not as bad as it first sounds. Here’s an example: You pick the Extra Game numbers 1,2,3,4,5,6,7. You didn’t win anything at Lotto. The Extra Game Numbers are 5,3,1,1,6,7. You have matched the last 2 numbers: 6 and 7. You have won the minimum Extra Game prize and therefore win £6.50 even though you didn’t win anything with Swedish Lotto. Here’s another example: You pick the Extra Game numbers 1,2,3,4,5,6,7. You won £100 on the Lotto. The Extra Game Numbers are 1,1,3,5,4,6,2. Unfortunately you don’t win the Extra Game. Even though you matched several numbers they are not in the correct order. But you have won £100 with the Swedish Lotto, which is unaffected. Here’s a final example: You pick the Extra Game numbers 1,2,3,4,5,6,7. You won £100 with the Lotto. The Extra Game Numbers are 1,2,3,3,5,6,7. You have won matched 6 numbers (not 3+3) so you’ve won an extra £20,117. Add that to the £100 you won Swedish Lotto and you’ve won a tidy £20,217!

What is the Extra Bet?

You can also place an ‘Extra Bet’ of £2 or £3 with the Extra Game. This will double or triple the amount of money you win on the Extra Game. The default Lotto bet is set for an extra £1 for the Extra Game, so if you do not want the Extra Game simply set it to ‘None’.

What is the ‘Dream Win’ or Drömvinsten?

Swedish Lotto has a super jackpot (called ‘Drömvinsten’ – the ‘Dream Win’ in Sweden) and occurs when you match all 7 numbers on Swedish Lotto and get at least 2 numbers correct on the Extra Game. The Dream win starts at just under £6 million and increases about £120,000 each week until it is won. The largest Dream Win on record was just over £19 million. The odds of winning the Drömvinsten are 1:337,915,578. Any Extra Bet made on the Extra Game will not increase the amount won on the Drömvinsten

What are the Lotto Draw Days and Times?

The Lotto is drawn at 16:15 UK Time (17:15 Swedish Time) on Wednesdays and 17:15 UK Time (18:15 Swedish Time) on Saturdays.

Why should I bet on the Swedish Lotto online at ?

is the only site where you can take part in the Swedish Lotto from overseas. In addition it means you don’t have to worry about losing your bet or forgetting to claim your prize on time since any winnings will be paid directly into your account

How can I increase my chances to win the Swedish Lotto?

There are no scientifically proven ways to increase your odds of winning the Lotto short of betting more numbers. You can do this either by betting in lottery syndicates. Betting in a lottery group with friends, family, colleagues or teammates is a great way to disperse costs and increase your chances of winning by pooling bets.

How does the Swedish Lotto compare to the UK National Lottery?

Although the price is the same, the Swedish Lottery is quite different from the UK Lottery. You have a much better chance of winning the 7/35 Lotto but prizes are generally smaller. You can make up this difference by betting the Extra Game and the Drömvinsten prize is comparable to the top UK National Lottery jackpots.

The EuroJackpot lottery is run by Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Italy, the Netherlands, Slovenia and Spain, with a total population of 130 million inhabitants. The EuroMillions countries have a considerably larger population, at approximately 217 million inhabitants. From a gameplay perspective, the EuroMillions and EuroJackpot lotteries are similar; both lotteries require you to pick 5 numbers from 50, and 2 supplementary numbers. The supplementary numbers are where the difference becomes clear as you must pick 2 supplementary (Star) numbers from 8 for the EuroJackpot and for the EuroMillions you must pick 2 supplementary numbers from 12. The prices for the two lotteries are also similar – €2 for the EuroMillions and €2 for EuroJackpot The EuroJackpot organisers guarantee a weekly minimum jackpot of €10 million, with a maximum jackpot of €90 million. The EuroMillions is much larger in comparison, with a minimum of €15 million available at each of the two weekly draws (i.e. €20 million weekly), with a maximum jackpot size of a whopping €190 million! The winning numbers for the EuroJackpot are drawn every Friday in Helsinki (Finland), while the EuroMillions has two weekly draws on Tuesdays and Fridays in Paris (France).

What is a syndicate?

A syndicate, in the sense of betting on lotteries, is a group of people that combine their money in order to increase their chances of winning. With the money that they pool together, they make multiple line bets together on the outcome of a lottery draw and share any prize money won. The benefit of the Syndicate feature is that it lets you boost your chances of winning, allowing you to buy much more shares of numerous lottery line bets than a player would just making bets by themselves.

How do I enter a Syndicate?

Select your chosen lottery and then click on the ‘Syndicates’ tab. Select the syndicate size you wish to enter. Choose how many shares you want.

How do Syndicates work?

When you go to the syndicates tab, you will see an image similar to the following: The lines are the amount of lines that you will be betting on in this syndicate. In the case above, 168 lines — or 168 lotto bets — in total will be placed on the next jackpot draw. If any of these numbers result in winning a prize, then the prize money is paid out to you in accordance to the numbers of shares you bought. The shares are the amount of shares that are available for this syndicate bet. IN the example in the image, 100 shares are available. You can purchase 1, 2 or 5 shares in total for this syndicate. If you buy 1 share of the possible 100, then you will receive 1/100th of the prize and so on. So, if you select 1 share for a lottery with a jackpot of £100m and one of the lines in the syndicate won the jackpot, you would receive £1 million. If you selected 2 shares you would receive £2m and if you selected 5 shares you would receive £5m. There is also additional information about the syndicate, for example, in the case above, the 168 lines will be placed on the next draw and there is no automatic renewal.

How can I see my syndicate numbers?

When you place your syndicate bet, you can see your numbers by going to “My Account” in the top right hand corner, clicking on “My Activity” and then clicking on “Lotto Bets”. You will see a bet slip with a combination of numbers. These combination of numbers make up the total amount of lines that you have bought in your syndicate. These are the numbers that you use to check if you have won anything in the lottery draw. You will also be emailed your lotto syndicate numbers via a confirmation email.

You can win up to £1 million betting on this unique lottery draw that takes place every 4 minutes, from 5.34am until 10.54pm UK time every day of the week. You can also win even if you don’t match any numbers! You can see all the prize tiers in the tables below.

How does KeNow work?

KeNow works just like any other lottery — you pick the numbers you think will be drawn and win a prize if you guess them correctly. The amount of money that you win is determined by the amount of numbers that you correctly guess. The only difference to a usual lottery is that a KeNow draw takes place every four minutes. In each draw, 20 numbers are drawn from a total of 70. In any single bet, players can choose anywhere between a single number and 10 numbers. The more numbers the player chooses and matches the higher the possible winnings.

How does betting on KeNow at work?

Instead of entering the official KeNow Lotto draw, you place a bet on the outcome of it. You pick the numbers you think will be drawn in the same way as if you had entered the official lottery draw.

How do I choose a line and place a bet?

Select from 1 to a maximum of 10 numbers you wish to bet on from a pool of 1-70 for each line bet. You can use the QuickPick feature to automatically choose 10 numbers you want to bet on. Another choice is to use the Random Selection feature within the betslip which will randomly select a given amount of numbers for you from 1-10. You then need to choose how much you want to stake for each bet. You can choose a single stake for £1, or multiply it. The more you stake the more you win for each prize tier. You can multiply a stake up to 10 times the amount and each stake amount costs £1 extra. The maximum prize also increases with each stake increase. For example, a stake value of x1 on a line bet with 10 numbers costs £1 and allows you to win a maximum of £100k. A stake value of x2 with 10 numbers costs £2, for which you can win a maximum of £200k, and so on up to a maximum of x10, which costs £10 and allows you to go for the maximum £1,000,000 top prize.

How do I choose less than 10 numbers?

Select each number in the slip individually or by using the QuickPick Random Selection function at the bottom of the betslip using the “Random Selection” feature. The following image shows an example of choosing 3 numbers using the Random Selection feature: What ever the amount of numbers you choose will constitute a single line.

How does the prize change with the amount of numbers you choose for each bet?

The more numbers you choose, the higher the amount you can win. However, if you chose less than 10 numbers for a single line bet, you can win more for each tier of that amount of numbers. The following example illustrates how this works using the example of choosing 10 numbers versus choosing 5 numbers. If you choose 10 numbers in a single line bet, you can win a maximum of £1,000,000, but you will only win £20 if you correctly guess 5 numbers: However, if you only choose 5 numbers in total in a single line bet, then you can win £1,000 if you correctly guess all 5, but this is the maximum that you can win for this bet: So there is a trade-off between how many numbers you choose and the maximum amount of money you win for each prize tier

How much does a bet cost?

The cheapest possible line bet is £1 for a single stake and the most expensive is £10 for a multiple stake of x10. Each stake increase costs £1. The amount of numbers you choose and the stake value determines the price for a line bet.

How do I win the maximum prize of £1 million?

You need to match 10 of the 20 winning numbers and select a stake value of x10.

How can I win a prize for not getting any numbers correct?

If you choose a maximum of 10, 9 or 8 numbers in any single line bet, you win a prize if you correctly guess 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 or 0 numbers. You do not win any prizes for guessing 1, 2, 3 or 4 numbers.

What are the odds of winning the £1 million top prize?

The odds of winning the top prize on this game are 1 in 2,147,181. What are the different prize tiers available The tables below explains the different prize tiers, odds of winning and returns with a stake value of x1 and a stake value of x10 for a standard QuickPick line bet with 10 numbers.
